Your cat on holiday: alone at home, a sitter or boarding?
Many cat owners do not think about it for long: the cat stays at home and someone drops in twice a day. It is worth working out how many hours your cat actually spends alone.
Alone at home: the maths nobody does
A visiting service comes once or twice a day, feeds, cleans the litter tray and leaves again. Together that is perhaps half an hour. Your cat spends the whole rest of the day and the night alone in a home where there is otherwise always someone.
For the cat that changes more than it looks: no play, no company, nobody there if something happens. If she falls ill, injures herself or suddenly stops eating, in the worst case it is only noticed the next day. Medication at fixed times is not possible this way at all.
With us there is always someone there for your cat
There is someone in the house around the clock. We do not just feed: we spend time with your cat, play with her and look closely every day. Is she eating normally, is she lively, is anything wrong? We give medication at fixed times, and if a vet is needed it is not a matter of hours.
And there is company. Our feline guests live in a group, with plenty of places to retreat to for anyone who wants peace. Shy cats are often sitting right in the middle after a few days.
And a sitter in your home?
If someone moves in for the time you are away, the cat is still usually alone during the day. And finding someone who can keep that up reliably for two weeks in the holiday season is hard.
Our advice
A cat needs more than a full bowl. She needs someone who is there, who spends time with her and who notices when something is wrong. That is exactly what we can offer – for a few days just as much as for several weeks.
What it looks like here is shown in How a cat settles in with us and on the page about the Cat boarding.
